PURPOSE
Responsible for assistance in day-to-day operation of the SEMA Garage Detroit Emission Lab, Product Development / Installation Center and ADAS Research facilities. Mechanic will also be responsible for installation of aftermarket products, OBD diagnostic scanning, and general maintenance & repair of vehicles under the direction of the Emissions Lab Manager, ADAS Engineer and/or Facility General Manager. Must have proven experience performing emissions drive cycles on a chassis dynamometer for FTP, HWFET, US06, LA92 and SC03 drive traces. Familiarity with emissions lab operation and function is necessary. Thorough understanding of IC Engines and experience with or willingness to learn ADAS calibration equipment functionality.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
- Responsible to perform emissions driving cycles for emissions testing, mileage accumulation, and horsepower testing on chassis dynamometer under the direction of the Lab Manager
- Responsible for operation & maintenance of the Superflow 4WD HP chassis dynamometer
- Responsible for vehicle modification / product installation to prepare for testing, such as Superchargers, Air Intake systems, Intercoolers, Exhaust Headers and other devices for Emissions testing
- Responsible for installation of suspension, wheels, tires, bumpers and other components that may require ADAS testing
- Assist in operation & maintenance of emissions lab and SEMA Garage Detroit Facility

- Reports to Emissions Lab Manager - Detroit
- Interacts with all SEMA Garage staff
- Interacts with SEMA Members
- Interacts with all levels of SEMA staff
PRIMARY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience performing emissions drive traces on chassis dyno is required
- Experience operating OBD and diagnostic tools is required
- Knowledge of emissions readiness monitors & fault codes, automotive engine, modification, and repair & maintenance is required
- Sufficient experience to identify problems or faults in engines or modifications to engines
- Familiarity with vehicle suspension, brake and body components
- Knowledgeable about the Specialty Automotive Aftermarket parts industry and familiar with the range of parts and systems that typify this market segment
- Excellent communication, people, and computer skills
- Ability & appetite to learn new skills and follow specific defined processes and procedures
- Must have valid driver's license

Salary Range: This position's estimated hourly base salary is $29.00 - $33.00. Actual base salary will be dependent on individual’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible for 401k Savings plan, Healthcare (medical, dental and vision), and other generous rewards.
