SCOPE: Reports to Marketing Manager. Provides highly detailed technical illustrations, including exploded view drawings and datasheets to support product sales, installation, and service.
SUMMARY: To create new or modify existing engineered drawings that illustrate specific details and product dimensions. Professional technical drawings are used to support sales efforts and help the installer or end user perform installation following step-by-step instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the Senior Manager of Engineering and the Marketing Manager to prioritize the project list for the creation of technical drawings and datasheets
Work closely with the Engineering department to understand the scope of the project and what illustrations or photographs are needed
Create, convert, enhance and/or prepare photographic imagery, line art, and engineering drawings for use in instructional data sheets and parts drawings for promotional material in print and digital for online website use
Participate in and assist with new product installations to provide technical data and document proper procedures for the creation of a step-by-step instructional datasheet for end users
Provide direction to the photographer to capture the correct images needed to support the datasheet
Edit the images from the photographer for use in the layout and design of the datasheet
Prepare complete data sheets for new products using drawings and photography as requested by engineering and marketing
Edit existing data sheets and drawings as needed for updates and product changes
Work within technical drawing programs, preferably Adobe Illustrator and InDesign or SolidWorks AutoCAD software

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, illustration or a related field
Minimum three years experience using graphic design, AutoCAD, or other illustration software
Equivalent combination of education and work experience

Must possess a positive attitude, a high degree of personal integrity, and a strong work ethic
Must be a detail-oriented, creative thinker with solid design skills
Must possess exceptional written and verbal English communication skills
Possess superior personal and project time management skills, and the ability to balance creativity with the need to meet deadlines
Requires proven PC, Microsoft Office, and illustration software skills, and thorough understanding of graphic, and print tools, including an understanding of file conversion
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
