About the Role:
We are seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking Product Development Coordinator to lead new Baja Designs and sPOD product development projects across the automotive, motorcycle (dual sport, adventure, and street), and powersports segments. This is a high-impact role responsible for identifying emerging trends, building business cases, and steering product development efforts from concept to commercialization. This position will work with senior management to independently manage project execution and provide mentorship to employees within Product Development and Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a proactive industry expert with a proven ability to dictate strategy through unknowns, collaborate across departments, and execute complex development projects with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
· Strategic Market Analysis: Proactively research and evaluate industry (automotive, powersports, moto, industrial) trends, technologies, and competitor activity to inform new product strategies and long-term roadmap decisions.
· Opportunity Identification: Champion the creation of strategic business cases for new product platforms and Vehicle Specific Kits, leveraging data insights, voice of customer, and market forecasts to justify investments.
· Revenue Forecasting & Management of Product Performance: Apply forecasting methodologies to predict product performance by working with Operations & Planning groups to identify growth opportunities based on take rates, historical performance, and market gaps.
· Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-departmental collaboration with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Production, and Technical Support to ensure timely and successful product development and launch.
· Project Governance: Own the full product development lifecycle - setting timelines, defining milestones, holding stakeholders accountable, and managing deliverables across multiple projects in parallel. For smaller projects, work independently to turn project requirements into designs that are manufactured and launched without pulling resources from higher priority projects.
· Technical Process Oversight: Guide the creation and accuracy of part numbers, BOMs, pricing structures, and product specifications in collaboration with Engineering and Operations teams.
· External Engagement: Cultivate and manage relationships with customers, OEM partners, and industry contacts to secure vehicles and feedback for development purposes.
· Continuous Improvement: Maintain and improve SOPs to reflect best practices and evolving standards within the Engineering and Product Development team. Review Product Development deliverables and provide mentorship on areas of improvement.
· Product Line Maintenance: Ensure compatibility databases and website product pages are consistently updated with current year, make, model information.
Requirements & Qualifications:
· 5+ years of experience in product development, project management, or a combination thereof, preferably in the lighting, power/accessory management, automotive, or powersports industries.
· Strong background in market analysis, product strategy, and cross-functional leadership.
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
· Proven success in launching complex technical products or vehicle accessories.
· Strong business acumen with the ability to assess ROI and strategic value of proposed products.
· Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel); experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred); experience with work management software (Monday, Jira, Asana).
· Superior communication and presentation skills. Must be able to organize and lead productive meetings, communicate professionally via email, and provide insightful updates and questions.
· Passionate about automotive, powersports, power/accessory management, and high-performance lighting systems.
· Comfortable with occasional travel (~10%) and flexible work hours based on testing or industry events.
Pay Range:
$70,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience
