Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Paint and Body Manager with a deep passion for classic vehicle restoration. This role will oversee the entire paint and bodywork department, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship while managing production schedules, team workflows, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in body repair, painting techniques, and production management with the proven ability to create and implement processes.

Duties and Responsibilities
Department Oversight:
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of body technicians and paint specialists.
Ensure employees have up-to-date assembly manuals and are trained in how to follow them.
Schedule staff to ensure build deadlines are met.
Work with Human Resources to hire, train, performance manage, and terminate employees as needed.
Review and correct employee time punches and payroll reports.
Production Scheduling:
Develop and manage detailed production schedules for bodywork and paint jobs, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Project Management:
Oversee multiple stations simultaneously, coordinating closely with other departments such as mechanical, upholstery, and parts procurement to maintain workflow efficiency.
Quality Assurance:
Monitor and inspect all stages of bodywork and painting to ensure that work meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
Inventory Management:
Manage inventory for paint and bodywork supplies, ensuring sufficient stock while maintaining cost control.
Work closely with vendors to ensure the availability of high-quality materials.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all workplace safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices related to hazardous materials and equipment.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest industry techniques, materials, and equipment related to classic vehicle restoration and make recommendations for departmental improvements.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of bodywork techniques, paint mixing, application processes, and surface preparation.
Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing workflows, and ensuring quality control.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to address challenges related to scheduling, materials, and project management.
Familiarity with shop management software, scheduling tools, and inventory systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Google Suite.
Ability to work a minimum of 45 hours per week, on call as needed.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years in automotive paint and body repair management.
Proven track record in developing and managing production schedules in a high-volume shop environment.
Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computer, office equipment, telephone, etc.
Sit for long periods of time working at a desk, boardroom table, or at a computer.
Walk long distances across shop floor to communicate and gather information as needed.
Must be able to navigate through various departments of the organization’s physical premises.
Ability to lift, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Occasional reaching overhead and below knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting.
Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures for long periods of time.
