The Manufacturing Production Planner is responsible for scheduling manufacturing activities according to demand and capacity. The right candidate will ensure our goods are produced on time for distribution and stock in an efficient manner. This person will have previous experience in machining and light metal fabrication production-planning in a fast-paced upbeat environment. The candidate should be comfortable communicating across the organization as they drive for results. The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of our production operations while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.
This position will be responsible for scheduling and coordination of manufacturing work orders to satisfy customer orders and inventory stocking targets. This is a critical role for the company as it helps ensure our manufacturing production is properly scheduled to exceed our customer’s expectation while meeting/exceeding the financial inventory goals of the company.
This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing based at our location in Georgetown, Texas.
Specific Duties:
- Coordinate production workflow between Sales, Purchasing and Manufacturing for all TSP manufactured product lines.
- Create and maintain overall production timeline for all manufactured goods (based on inventory availability, machine center capacity, labor, and order date)
- Recommend stocking parameters (min/max limits) for manufactured product production based on sales demand rate vs. inventory budget
- Provide recommendations for labor, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demand
- Monitor backlog and provide data to ensure production orders will finish on time and to meet customer expectations
- Obtain output information (number of finished products, percentage of defectives etc.) to support the development of manufacturing KPI
- Regularly communicate production progress vs original timeline
- Create and Implement standard Production Planning KPIs needed to meet customer demand and stocking levels
- Coordinate between warehouse and purchasing on material shortages
- Notify Sales of any schedule impacts to customers
- Performs other duties as required
What Success Looks Like:
- Creating and maintaining a comprehensive production plan for all open manufacturing orders
- Creating open lines of communication between all departments to facilitate the on-time completion of manufactured products
- Delivering on the production plan to meet customer demand and stocking requirements
- Demonstrating ownership of the actual output versus the expected production timeline
- Be able to create win-win partnerships within the company to support the on-time execution of the production plan
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years production planning experience in a light metal fabrication or machining environment
- Manufacturing Experience – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- In-depth knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and related software (NetSuite Experience is preferred)
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office/Google applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Strong Bias for action to identify and drive process improvement
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business management, or related field is preferred
- Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) accreditation or other relevant certification is advantageous
