Lead and manage the in-house creative team to ensure all work is on-brand, as well as also bringing a fresh and energetic approach to each new project. Act as the primary creative contact for internal and external needs, overseeing the flow of work for the creative team that is submitted using the web-based request tool Wrike.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Oversee all PRI design elements.
Maintain design quality and campaign consistency.
Ensure specified project objectives are incorporated into concept and final design.
Trouble shoot design and production issues.
Responsible for the development, growth, and guidance of the graphic design team
Responsible for providing timely feedback and recommended approach on project design.
Responsible for presenting ideas and final proofs from the creative team to both internal and external clients.
Collaborates with other departments to strategically create a consistent visual identity for the organization.
Design and layout PRI Magazine.
Collaborate with Editor to create and produce monthly cover and content design.
Story design and layout. Produce own layouts as well as monitor Art team layouts.
Manage production of magazine.
Maintain and update annual Magazine production calendar.
Facilitate Magazine boarding, ad placement, ship and blue line process.
Assign stories to Art team and manage progress.
Coordinate page corrections and approve final page submissions to printer.
Prepare Magazine pages for digital edition.
Assist with processing of monthly publication expenses.
Manage the annual magazine budget.
PRI Trade Show:
Oversee design and production of PRI Trade Show signage throughout the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
Manage design concepts and ensure application of specified trade show initiatives.
Oversee design and production of PRI marketing collateral, both print and digital. This includes the PRI brand, trade show, magazine, sales, and membership promotional materials across all mediums.
Facilitate PRI photo shoots and photography for in-house marketing projects.
Collect and curate photographic assets for use in PRI marketing and promotional materials.
Report to PRI President.
Manage Art Department.
Interface daily with Marketing, Trade Show, Sales, and Editorial.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Minimum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree, or education equivalent in Graphic Design or similar discipline.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Graphic Design, including 3+ years in a managerial role within a team.
“Action Sports” background preferred.
Experience leading a professional design department, overseeing process and workflow, in-house a plus.
Strong creative vision and sensibilities.
Strong knowledge of working with vendors and printers in releasing artwork.
Fundamentals of page-layout, typography and design principles a must.
Experience creating branded marketing campaigns.
Strong personnel management, communication, time management and organization skills. Proven ability to multi-task while producing accurate, high quality work within specific deadlines.
Solid working knowledge of the Macintosh OS and Adobe Creative Suite. Specifically Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge and Incopy.
Experience with a web content management system.
Comprehension of marketing principles and their application to layout and design.
Capacity to conceptualize and implement specified project objectives in both print and digital media design.
Ability to coach others and inspire creative new design solutions.
Working knowledge of digital prepress process, color-correcting and retouching skills.
Photographic experience a plus. Behind the camera or coordinating photo shoots.
Experience using Wrike or similar project management software.
Ability to collaborate in a team environment as well as work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and an emphasis on PowerPoint.
Possess high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the convention center for prolonged periods of time during the annual trade show; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
