Technician - Body Shop, Technician - Mechanical Repair
Responsible for assistance in day to day operation of the automotive emissions lab for the purpose of completing chassis dyno certification testing for SEMA members, including lucrative testing for product design purposes and those required for CARB Executive Orders. Must have familiarity with all forms of engines, must be willing to learn how to perform driving cycles on a dynamometer for FTP, US06 and SC03 drive traces. Lab Mechanic will be responsible for preparation of vehicles for testing and performing test duties under the direction of the Lab Manager, including installation of performance products to be tested. Lab Mechanic will also assist with SEMA vehicle builds and Measuring Session vehicles.
1.Primary work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm. Schedule may be subject to change based on department needs.
2.The Emissions Lab Mechanic will be the primary mechanic for vehicle modification or product installation to prepare for testing, such as Superchargers, Air Intake systems, Intercoolers, Exhaust Headers and other devices for Emissions testing.
3.The Lab Mechanic will learn to perform regular driving cycles on dynamometer under the direction of the Lab Manager.
4.The Lab Mechanic will be responsible for mileage accumulation driving on a specific street route or chassis dynamometer.
5.The Lab Mechanic will assist with vehicle builds including aspects of fabrication and welding.
6.The Lab Mechanic will participate in SEMA Measuring Sessions to ensure proper vehicle reassembly.
7.Other duties as request to complete department and company goals.

1.Knowledge of automotive engines is required, diesel knowledge a plus
2.Experience in vehicle engine modification is required
3.Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an automotive mechanic
4.ASE (or similar) certifications a plus
5.Fabrication and welding skills a plus
6.Sufficient experience to identify problems or faults in engines or modifications to engines
7.Dedicated to the importance of maintaining complete transparency with SEMA staff, insofar as possible bias toward the Association or its member companies could be perceived.
8.Knowledgeable about the Specialty Automotive Aftermarket parts industry and familiar with the range of parts and systems that typify this market segment
9. Excellent communication skills
