Responsible for all aspects of sourcing and strategic procurement with new and existing supply partners to ensure optimal business solutions are applied. This position has the primary responsibility for developing worldwide sourcing strategies utilizing an understanding of best sourcing practices, with the goal of securing low costs and sustaining continuous cost reductions and quality, service and delivery improvements. Responsible for developing and maintaining market intelligence data as it pertains to strategic purchases and develops a high performance procurement organization to support business needs. Improving working capital and cash flow are key deliverables along with cost savings and sales growth support.
Develops and maintains key relationships across various functions and levels within supply partners’ organizations. Strong collaboration especially with engineering and plant stakeholders to deliver broad value for the organization.
Focus on delivering tangible value in the following areas: cost savings, New Product Development, working capital (inventory & terms), supply risk management, and technology advancement.
Negotiates and manages contracts; approves prices, delivery, payment terms and service levels.
Develops and implements global sourcing strategies to gain competitive advantage. Locates, selects and manages a global supply base for required raw materials and components.
Develops and leverages advanced sourcing tools such as cost modeling, should-cost, VA/VE and other to drive improvement to total cost
Engages to support supplier performance issues as well as participates in score carding process
Stays abreast of market conditions and trends as they relate to supply and demand issues as well as new technologies. Able to anticipate trends and assess impact on supply and pricing. Provides forecasts/reports pricing/supply/technologies/indicies.
Leverages supply partners for business development and or prospect identification opportunities when possible.
Identifies and qualifies new vendors best suited as suppliers and manufacturers; establishes and manages supplier/manufacturer assessment programs that meet Company standards and supply objectives.
Collaborates with vendors and customers to improve total costs (pricing, inventory carrying costs) and service.
Develops and implements vendor performance programs. Guides performance and develops capabilities of vendors to ensure attainment of delivery, quality, and price commitments.
Works closely with other departments within the organization to ensure all business requirements are incorporated into sourcing strategies.
Maintains all contracts and related records and files; prepares management reports as required.
Performs other work or special projects as assigned by the VP, Sourcing.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Materials, Business or a related field is required.
At least 5 years of directly related experience in strategic sourcing for a multinational company with multiple manufacturing locations and global suppliers in low cost regions.
Direct involvement in low cost region sourcing experience (China required; India and Mexico preferred) particularly in industrial products (stamping, raw materials, molding).
At least 3 years of proven success in negotiating with suppliers directly for large dollar expenditures and constructing such a negotiation in a formal contract.
Demonstrated results in attaining year-over-year cost savings and value creation in the business area supported.
Strong project management skills. Must be comfortable with and demonstrated success in leading projects in a global organization.
Excellent excel, PowerPoint skills and ability to analyze data and present a concise and strategically strong path forward based on the current state and gap to a future state
Fluency in English required, US citizen required.
Available for a minimum of 20% travel, internationally including China, India, Mexico on occasion. Demonstrate success in developing and fostering relationships with suppliers while driving lower costs, superior performance and continuous improvement
MBA is a plus.
Oracle ERP system knowledge a strong plus.
