Summary: To provide leadership to the manufacturing operation in terms of programming, machining, scheduling and improvements to the manufacturing operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage inventories of cutting tools and machining supplies. Order items as needed.
Coordinate the production machining to complete manufacturing work orders.
Balance work activities within equipment capacities and available manpower. Identify resource constraints.
Develop machine set-ups for products as needed to ensure efficient machining and the quality of the parts machined.
Provide training to machine operators.
Ensure that safety procedures are followed in all areas of the machining area.
Ensure that all machines are properly maintained and that the preventive maintenance procedures are followed.
Provide technical and administrative support to all manufacturing departments.
Perform analysis of manufacturing activities, as required.
Ensure product is of high quality to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Run production when operators are off and or at lunch.
Education and/or Experience:
High school graduate plus "G" code machine control language training or equivalent experience required. Prefer prior exposure to Surf Cam and/or Solids Works software packages. Minimum experience of 5 years machining experience in a production environment. Must have:
Hands-on operation experience with mills, lathes, drills, and vertical or horizontal machining centers.
4 or 5-axis VMC and or HMC experience.
Fanuc Pro 3 or Pro 5 controller experience.
Experience with measuring and gauging equipment.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Must understand the operation and capacity of all critical production machining equipment including CNC mills.
Must be proficient in the use of PC equipment and Microsoft Office.
Must have CAM experience.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
Must have the ability to read bills-of-material and labor routing sheets.
Must be able to select the best suited tooling for the most efficient cycle times while maintaining high quality product.
Must be able to provide input and build fixtures for the machining process.
Must be a good communicator, both verbally, and in writing.
Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Must be flexible with regard to work assignments and work well in a team environment.
