The Strategic Sourcing-Procurement Manager for OPGI is responsible for directing and driving the Sourcing Department. This entails leading a team in all aspects of strategic sourcing, including new supplier evaluations, sourcing and developing new products, enhancing and nurturing existing supplier relationships and an understanding of principles of procurement and how they are applied. This position requires working directly with the company Purchasing Management to establish and enforce mutual goals and objectives for the team that will have a direct impact on the growth and operational results of the business.
Must be highly skilled at sourcing new and existing leading manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive aftermarket, restoration and high performance industry segments as well as related industries to continue to develop and grow OPGI’s product line.
Expected to have familiarity and a deep understanding of common supplier evaluation mechanisms, best business practice and procedures relating to new and existing product procurement.
Manages day-to-day elements of the sourcing department. Issues faced may be technical in nature, and require an understanding of automotive systems and parts.
Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team, with direct impact on the immediate or short-term operational results. Exercise leadership and discipline within the departmental employees to maximize employee performance. Lead all aspects of procurement management.
Manage the procurement process to insure optimal value with suppliers through continuous improvement efforts related to cost, delivery, quality and service.
Expected to have a deep understanding on how to develop and present to executive management analytics relating to the pros and cons of supply, and benchmark vendors in multi-source situations.
Provides a bridge of communication within the sourcing context to all departments (Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Warehouse and/or functional areas to ensure new or changes in existing product procurement is understood, communicated and represented and that all relevant departments participate.
Analyze market trends and related issues and provide solutions to management to minimize the risk of interrupted supply.
Identify and resolve issues related to quality, cost and delivery to minimize the risk of interrupted supply.
Manage and streamline the complete execution of new product development to drive revenue growth. Collaborate and coordinate with the digital product information management team for catalog and web product line expansion, line item corrections and periodic updates. Make modifications in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of the department.
Bachelor’s degree required, technical degree a plus
6+ years of automotive OEM Tier 1 and/or Aftermarket/Retail supplier or similar/relevant procurement experience in parts and components.
Experience in strategic sourcing and procurement category management
Strong analytical and advanced planning skills
Strong leadership characteristics and communication skills required along with the ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships both internally as well as with suppliers/vendors.
Skilled in supplier negotiation tactics.
