Summary: Hands-on position to provide responsibility for the quality standard of the manufacturing operation in supplier quality, production quality, and customer quality. Ensure the quality of parts produced meet all internal and external customer expectations. Quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are found.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work with Engineering and Production to write and revise quality and production procedures.
Provide Daily and Monthly quality reports.
Identify and implement continuous improvement projects.
Investigate non-conforming product and lead team to determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions.
Resolve quality concerns related to capability, tolerances, and materials.
Perform internal and supplier audits.
Coordinate and analyze appropriate use of Statistical Techniques.
New Product Project Management and coordination of design and process approvals
Maintain gage calibration and application of Measurement System Analysis.
Train production associates on processes and procedures.
Coordinate with sales, purchasing, engineering, and production to resolve customer complaints.
Provide technical and warranty support to customers and other departments.
Maintain document control.
Manage quality metrics and present findings as well as recommendations to leadership team.
Perform other duties, as required.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years prior quality experience.
Qualifications: 3 to 5 years experience in quality control, root cause analysis, corrective action, and process improvements in a manufacturing operation required. Desired qualifications include knowledge of engine operation and components. Previous experience with aluminum sand castings is desired.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Understand use of problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why, etc)
Understand the operation and capacity of all critical production equipment including CNC mills/lathes, valve seat and guide sizing equipment, rod hone equipment, and inspection equipment.
Ability to develop, maintain, and update SPC program.
Must be proficient in the use of PC equipment, especially CAD and MS Office.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and the use of GD&T.
Basic knowledge of engine operation and components helpful.
Basic knowledge of aluminum green sand and perm mold castings.
Ability to interact with suppliers, internal production departments, and external customers.
Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Must be flexible with regard to work assignments and work well in a team environment.
Some travel is required.
