POSITION SUMMARY: Within an assigned region, customarily and regularly make direct calls on customers at their places of business to promote sales. Incidental thereto, develop and implement a plan for promoting sales growth within the region, take necessary follow-up sales closure steps to assure the sales growth pursuant to the plan and generally, manage the sales plan for the assigned region.
Makes direct sales contacts with persons authorized to order products at the customers’ places of business and follows-up with closure as required.
Incidental to the aforementioned direct sales contacts:
Prepare a sales plan for promoting market share within his or her assigned region, to include short-term and long-term sales forecasts and sales budgets.
Ensure that existing and newly developed customers are properly trained on Company products.
Ensure that customers are properly and adequately stocked with Company products.
Gather and forward market information, to include competitive information, survey data, and new product market information to support Company marketing strategies.
Ensure effective communications and correspondence between the Company and customer contacts in the assigned region and, to this end, effectively interface with other Company departments, i.e., accounting, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, and purchasing.
Prepare and submit to Company management, monthly reports covering sales quota and regional activities.
Work with Outside Sales Reps to insure better service to customers; share information about accounts, products, Company, special promotions, identify special needs of customers, inform OSRs or personnel of changes in the accounts and credit status.
Must be able to perform functions and duties of ISR and CSR as necessary to assist in departmental training and support Customer Service function.
Able to travel commensurate with his or her obligation to customarily and regularly contact customers at their places of business.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possess communication skills necessary for effective communications with all levels of Company and customer personnel.
Have knowledge and training in industry selling and marketing techniques, particularly as they relate to direct sales contacts.
Have technical automotive and mechanical skills necessary to fully explain the Company’s products.
Have computer skills necessary to satisfy the above-listed principal responsibilities.
Have the ability to skillfully develop solutions to day-to-day problems.
