Responsible for assisting users with common computer related issues, providing technical assistance and support for incoming help desk tickets and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. Provide outstanding customer support for users who need assistance. Responds to queries either in person or over the phone. Maintain daily performance of computer systems.
Responsibilities also include designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting the company's computer and network systems, including diagnosing and resolving technical hardware and software issues. Assists with process improvements and automation for various departments using available resources such as Excel, Access, and Visual Basic. The job requires the candidate to be knowledgeable in Help Desk, MS Office Applications, Network Server, Citrix, Cloud computing and Exchange, along with some limited programming knowledge in SQL, and Visual Basic. Duties and Responsibilities include:
Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, electronically
Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
Research questions using available information resources
Follow standard help desk procedures
Log all help desk interactions & administer help desk software
Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
Design new automated processes / reports for various departments as required.
Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security.
Identify user needs and manage Help Desk.
Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
Configure and troubleshoot workstations, laptops, printers, network equipment and mobile devices.
Associate's degree or 4-year degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement. Three years work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support preferred. Knowledge of: Programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies in use; Enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools; effective project management techniques; principles and practices of effective management and supervision. Knowledge of Mitel Phone system and Mac is a plus. Knowledge of multiple operating systems and proficiency in MS Office suite, Windows 7, 8 and other Windows applications.
Proven ability to provide efficient and professional response to users at all levels of the organization within tight deadlines. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 2-5 years of similar or related experience and post high school education in a specialized course of study.
Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively. Ability to work independently and problem solve.
